    Windows to Wellbeing, Newport Magistrates Youth Court Cell, Newport

    Commissioned by Artswork’s Young Cultural Changemakers Programme for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight to facilitate creative sessions with Youth Justice Service users to co-produce and design murals for a youth court holding cell. Funded by HAF and match-funded by BeeWell Foundation and The National Lottery Community Fund.

    SHELTERED - Art, Ecology and Belonging on the Appley Coast, Ryde

    A Collaborative project between artists Alice Malia and Laura Hathaway. SHELTERED is a series of 14 local marine themed murals regenerating 14 shelters along Appley Seafront. Alongside two pop up exhibitions at Appley Tower and Re-Box Gallery Ryde. Kindly supported by Arts Council England, Ryde Town Council and Isle of Wight Council.

    The Youth Trust, Newport

    Commissioned by Artswork’s Young Cultural Changemakers Programme for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight to facilitate creative sessions with the Youth Trust to co-produce and re-design the hallway, reception and waiting area of the Youth Trust building.

    Newport Police Station, Newport

    Commissioned by Artswork’s Young Cultural Changemakers Programme for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight to facilitate creative sessions with the Youth Justice Team young people. Co-producing artwork for the ceiling of a youth holding cell in Newport Police Station. Supported by the Police Commissioner for Hampshire and Isle of Wight.

    Columbine Building, East Cowes

    Selected by lead artist Alice Malia as part of a team of artists facilitating the creation of a large scale mural on the Columbine Building in East Cowes. Supported by Arts Council England’s National Lottery Grants, Forestry England and the Isle of Wight Council.

    St Mary’s Hospital Children’s Sensory Garden, Newport

    Comissioned by Artswork in partnership with St Mary’s Hospital. A collaboration with young people from the Isle of Wight NHS Trust Youth Forum to design and create a sensory garden space in the children’s ward of the hospital.

    Shaping Newport

    Commissioned by Carisbrooke and Newport Community Council to design a piece of artwork to be printed on a series of flags around Newport High Street.

    Little London Carpark Mural, Newport

    Supporting Young Minds extension commissioned by Independent Arts / AONB Partnership collaboration, Newport. Co-produced with young people creating a marine themed mural inspired by trips to Compton Bay and creaive exploration of the area.

    Chain Lane Mural, Newport

    Supporting Young Minds extension, Independent Arts / Youth Offending Team collaboration, Newport. Co-produced with young people exploring natural materials and wellbeing.

    2022

    Supporting Young Minds, Newport

    Commissioned artist over a year to run a series of workshops alongside creating a number of place changing pieces of public art with young people. Commissioned by Independent Arts; supported by The Island Collection, IW CEP, Isle of Wight AONB, Artswork, University of Sussex and National Lottery Grants.

    Alongside assisting with the curation of an exhibition showcasing the young peoples art in response to the project.

    Wadhams Window Mural, Newport

    Co-produced with young people inspired by creative exploration of nature and local green spaces in Newport and the mental health benefits of being in nature. The piece covered the glass windows over five strories of a building awaiting development.

    Newport Bus Station Mural

    Co-produced with young people inspired by creative exploration of nature and local green spaces in Newport. The mural wrapped around one half of the main island bus station.

    Stainless Games Window Mural

    Co-produced with young people inspired by creative exploration of nature and local green spaces in Newport. The artworks covered the frontage of a newly purchased shop front awaiting development.

    2022

    No Ball Games, Ryde

    Commissioned by Ryde Business Association, Ryde Arts and the Heritage Action Zone; funded by ACE Jubilee Fund and the Isle of Wight and Hampshire Trust to create a piece of public art in response to the local architecture and marks and rubbings collected by the public in the Ryde Heritage Zone.

    Hullabaloo at Home, Online

    Commissioned by Hullabaloo Festival to spend time in the Sandown Bay area responding with a photographic journal exploring the local ecosystems alongside a collection of cyanotype ‘sun prints’ available to view online during the Covid-19 pandemic.

    Disorder II, Ryde illuminated carnival, Ryde

    An installation commissioned by Jo Hummel-Newell and Ryde Arts, the piece was displayed and transported through Ryde illuminated carnival.

    2016

    Disorder, K6 Gallery, Southampton

    Commissioned by K6 Gallery Laura was invited to transform the windows of the gallery located in a phone box in the centre of Southampton. ‘Disorder’ explores the visual language of marks.
